Xiaomi has been a consistent performer in the smartphone segment. Where it has been the number one brand for five quarters with a market share of 27.3 percent. In 2018 alone, Xiaomi has launched over six smartphones in India. And ahead of the year-end, another device is launching called the Redmi Note 6 Pro.
The successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro that was launched in February 2018. The new smartphone comes with a notched display, better cameras and more. Most of the things such as the chipset, battery capacity, storage, and RAM variants remain the same as the earlier model. But the new changes come in the form of improved design and P2i protection. It’s basically water-repellent nano-coating, just like what we have seen in the Moto G phones. It is not water resistant but can handle minor spills or unexpected rains.

Buyers can choose between two variants – the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB priced at Rs 13,999. The top model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage priced at Rs 15,999. The smartphone will go on sale starting November 23 (Black Friday) via mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Flipkart at 12:00 PM.
As an introductory offer, Xiaomi is offering Rs 1,000 discount on the first-day sale. This means you can buy the smartphone for Rs 12,999 for the base variant, and Rs 14,999 for the top model. Additionally, HDFC bank credit and debit card users can get Rs 500 off on the purchase. Reliance Jio is also offering 6TB data and Rs 2,400 cashback in the form of coupons.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro flaunts a 6.26-inch full HD+ display that runs at a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19:9. Xiaomi has improved the panel brightness, which now goes up to 500 nits. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC that is made on the 14nm FinFET process, paired with Adreno 509 GPU.
The camera department sees a significant upgrade. You still get a dual camera set up at the back. Which includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. However, Xiaomi has gone for a large sensor with a pixel size of 1.4um, and wider aperture of f/1.9, which should help in better low-light photography.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi and GPS. To keep things ticking, the smartphone comes with a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. On the software front, it runs MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo OS. Lastly, for security, there is a fingerprint scanner at the back, and the smartphone also supports face unlock feature.
